Stone Gate and Koruna in the Czech Republic — an idea for a day trip from Zieleniec

Crossing the Polish-Czech border in the vicinity of Zieleniec opens up completely new possibilities for tourists. On the side of our southern neighbors there are trails less frequented and equally picturesque as the Polish ones. One of the most interesting ideas for a day trip is the Stone Gate and Koruna. The route that leads to them allows you to make a loop and see both attractions in one fell swoop. Plan this trip with us!

Stone Gate in the Czech Republic — description of attractions

The Stone Gate in the Czech Republic is located in the southern part of Broumovskie Sten, near the village of Slavny, at an altitude of about 700 m above sea level. It is a natural rock arch several meters wide, formed in sandstone as a result of erosion. It is located directly on the marked trail to Koruna, which connects Slavny with other viewpoints in the massif, so it can be easily incorporated into a longer hike route.

If you plan to see only the Stone Gate and the Czech Republic, go from Zieleniec by car — the travel time is about 25 minutes, and the nearest parking lot is at the entrance to the Blue Trail from Slavny. From the parking lot, it takes about 30-40 minutes to walk to the attractions at a leisurely pace.

The Stone Gate (Broumovskie Steny) is a less crowded place than the popular Vicious Rocks, so even in high season you can count on peace here. The trail from the Slavny side is well marked, and you pass several smaller rock formations along the way. It is worth planning about an hour to stay at the Stone Gate in the Czech Republic, especially if you plan to take photos or relax before the road.

Koruna — peak, route, time and difficulty

Koruna peak has an altitude of 769 m above sea level and is one of the viewpoints in the region. The simplest access to it leads from the Stone Gate — just continue the hike along the blue and then yellow trail. The time of passage from the Stone Gate to the top of Coruna is about 1 hour. The route is medium-demanding - there are steep approaches and rocky passages, so trekking poles can come in handy. At the top there is a rock platform overlooking the Table Mountains, the Giant Mountains and the Broumov Basin.

Bohemian Koruna and its summit are also accessible from Bozanov — this is a good option if you want to start a trip on the Czech side. The Yellow Trail from Bozanova leads through forest and rock passages, and it takes about 1.5—2 hours to reach. The route is less traveled, which guarantees greater peace of mind.

Stone Gate and Koruna Combined Tour

Combining both places in one expedition is an excellent way to fully explore the charms of Broumovski Sten. Taking off from the parking lot in Slavny, hike the blue trail to the Stone Gate. Then continue along the blue and yellow trail to Koruna, from where there is an extensive view of the Table Mountains, the Giant Mountains and the Broumov Basin. After rest, you can return along the same route or go down the yellow trail to Bozanov and return in green to Slavny, which gives a picturesque passage of 12—14 km with a time of 5—6 hours. The route to Coruna and the Stone Gate is medium-demanding, suitable for people with basic mountain experience.
