There is definitely something to visit in the Czech Republic! What do you need to know when planning a trip to Adr š armpit? We hint.
The rock town of Adršpach has a history dating back nearly 89 million years. Once the entire area was located on the bottom of the praocean, and it was the actions of its waters that influenced the present shape of the reserve. According to geologists, during the younger Paleozoic, a ravine was formed in the place where the Rock City is now located, where sediments from the sea and rivers gradually accumulated. In the following years, the sea receded several times, while the earth bulged under the influence of tectonic movements. When the younger Mesozoic arrived, the sea again flooded the area of today's Rock City, accompanied by the accumulation of sands and limestone loams at its bottom. Their weight and chemical processes led to the fact that loose grains of sand began to merge together into rocks, specifically sandstones. After some time, the sea definitively gave way, showing rocky deposits. Then the forces of nature began to act on them: wind, sun, flowing water and frost, giving the rocks a shape that they have preserved to this day.
Built of sandstone, the Rock Town in Bohemian Adršpach is definitely worth visiting and not only for the sake of spectacular rock formations, although they are undoubtedly its greatest attraction. The area of the reserve also consists of an emerald lake and waterfalls, which together creates a breathtaking panorama. Particularly noteworthy is the flora located on the territory of Adršpach. Rock City is a place where foothill and mountain plant species grow, such as two-flowered violet, alpine coltsfoot, alpine veettle, or mountain larch. There is a good chance to see black storks, herons, badgers, zigzag vipers by visiting the Rock City.
