Żelazno Palace — the gem of the Kłodzko Basin
Żelazno is one of the oldest villages on the Kłodzko Land. It was created even before the middle of the 12th century at the crossroads of important trade routes — the Solna Road, leading through the Nysa to Krakow, and the amber route. These lands, often additional divided into smaller fragments, often changed their owners, circulating between private individuals and clerics. This condition lasted for a very long time — even at the end of the 18th century, when the Żelazno Palace was built, the village had as many as 5 owners. One of them was Franz Arbogast Hoffman — royal counsel and initiator of the construction of the residence at the same time.
The Palace in Iron dates from 1797 to 1798. It was rebuilt or was a reconstruction of the previous manor house, which burned down during the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648). It was in the hands of the original owner until the time of his death, that is, unfortunately, quite briefly — already in 1808 the Żelazno Palace belonged to Col. Albert von Biberstein, whom Hoffman's widow married. Later owners were the industrialist Hermann Dietrich Lindheim (from 1835 to 1860) and Hugon von Löbbeck (from 1860), who commissioned the reconstruction of the building to the well-known architect of German origin Karl Schmidt. In the hands of the von Löbbeck family, the residence was located until the end of World War II. Then the palace in Żelazzna shared the history of other similar residences — it was taken over and developed by the authorities of the Polish People's Republic. Currently, the building is in private hands.
